Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar

Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar was born in Barthi, a tribal area of Dera Ghazi Khan, into the family of Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Buzdar. He belonged to the Buzdar tribal leadership and became one of the notable political and tribal figures of southern Punjab.

He received higher education in political science and obtained an MA in Political Science from the University of Karachi in 1964. Before and alongside his political career, he worked as a public-school teacher and was also engaged in agriculture.

Biography

Sardar Fateh Muhammad Khan Buzdar was born in Barthi, a tribal area of Dera Ghazi Khan, into the family of Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Buzdar. He belonged to the Buzdar tribal leadership and became one of the notable political and tribal figures of southern Punjab.

He received higher education in political science and obtained an MA in Political Science from the University of Karachi in 1964. Before and alongside his political career, he worked as a public-school teacher and was also engaged in agriculture.

His public life extended beyond electoral politics. He served on the Dera Ghazi Khan District Council and became a member of the Federal Council (Majlis-e-Shoora) during 1983–84. He subsequently represented Dera Ghazi Khan in the Punjab Assembly on three occasions.

He was also the Tumandar and tribal chief of the Buzdar tribe, giving him an important traditional leadership role in the tribal areas of Dera Ghazi Khan.
